Environment and Geography
Access MQ works closely with Graduate school of Environment to offer active research program with extensive funding from diverse government, industry and community sources, and local and international partners and collaborators. These programs not only focus on the biophysical environment by conducting research in the areas of the atmosphere, oceans, soils, cryosphere, and the role humans play within these systems, they also focus on discovering integrative solutions to environmental problems. One of our main programs is The Australian Research Institute in Education for Sustainability (ARIES). Its core business is to undertake research that informs policy and practice in Education for Sustainability across a range of sectors including: business and industry, school education, community education, further and higher education. ARIES is primarily funded by the Australian Government Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.
Access MQ is also facilitating consulting program through Department of Human Geography ranges across such areas as social and community planning, health-care delivery, population studies, resource and environmental management, public policy development, and geographical information science.
Psychology
Access MQ works closely with The Centre for Emotional Health under department of Psychology Macquarie University. The Centre for Emotional Health (CEH) is a centre of excellence that focuses on the understanding, treatment and prevention of anxiety, depression and related mental health problems. The group provides a unique blend of theoretical conceptualisation, experimental expertise with practical development and application. The Centre widely cited for its work on aetiological modeling, low-cost dissemination of interventions, and prevention and early intervention. Access MQ provides logistic and marketing management services to The Emotional Health Clinic under CEH. The Emotional Health Clinic (EHC) is a specialist clinical research unit located on the Macquarie University Campus. It has a number of important functions including provide outreach programs to primary and high schools and to families living in remote areas of Australia; offer professional development and training for a large number of school counselors and other health professionals each year through conferences, workshops and seminars; provide group or private treatment to children or adult who has anxiety problems
Early Childhood Education
Access MQ works closely with The Institute of Early Childhood (IEC) Macquarie University which is committed to maximizing opportunities for young children, families and communities through research, teaching, learning and advocacy. Through Access MQ, the academics in IEC are involved in numerous collaborative projects with other universities, communities and state and federal governments. Currently, they are providing consultancy work to Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations (DEEWR); Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA); School Aids Trust; Benevolent Society and Catholic Education Office Sydney.
Access MQ works closely with NSW RTA Centre for Road Safety through Kids & Traffic, The NSW Early Childhood Road Safety Education Program.
Business & Finance
The Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) is the largest faculty within Macquarie University and one of Australia's largest business and commerce faculties with over 12000 candidates from 69 different countries. Access MQ works closely with academics from this faculty to provide consultancy, training and expert opinions services to external clients. One of our main partners is department of actuarial studies, we provide contract and finance management for its actuarial profession and actuarial education. This is the first actuarial studies program in the English speaking world to be accredited by a professional actuarial body and is the longest running program of its type in Australia.
Risk Hazard Mangement
Risk Frontiers is regarded as a world leader in quantitative natural hazards risk assessment and risk management. Risk Frontiers, based at Sydney's Macquarie University, is a not-for-profit research organisation sponsored by the Australian insurance community. For ten years, it has provided insurers, who are under ever-increasing pressure to minimise risks and maximise returns, with sophisticated research-based solutions. Other applications include emergency management, land use planning and floodplain management. As well as Australia, these tools are currently being used in Europe, North America and Asia.
