An introduction to a few of our experts:
Prof. Ron Rapee
Being the director of the Centre for Emotional Health (CEH) which includes the Emotional Health Clinic (EHC), Professor Ron Rapee's research focuses mostly on anxiety disorders in both children and adults. Besides his research direction on laboratory-based and naturalistic paradigms that borrow heavily from experimental and social psychology to address questions on aetiology and maintenance. Professor Rapee has based most of his research on "real-world" applications, intervention, prevention, and dissemination of treatments using large clinical trials. Through Access MQ, the Centre of Emotional Health offer research and private program to treat various types of anxiety; provide books regarding child and adult anxiety, held training sessions and workshops for psychology practitioners.
Dr. Katey De Gioia
Dr Katey De Gioia has gained rich experience as an early childhood teacher, director in long day care and preschool settings and as a trainer in a variety of institutions. Dr De Gioia's research interest is in the areas of community and family issues in early childhood service delivery, focusing on transition to school and cultural diversity.
Dr De Gioia used to be a Transition from Home to School facilitator for the Department of Education and Training. More recently, she has provided a lot of trainings and presentations on "Transition to School" to children and families within local communities through Access MQ.
Dr. Frances Gibson
Dr Frances Gibson is a lecturer in child development and she has a professional background in psychology. Dr Gibson used to be a clinical and research psychologist involved in the long term developmental follow-up of babies born at high risk (extremely premature) and in disability. She has a particular interest in social emotional development and the relationship between this area, family context, parent child relationships and children's learning and adjustment at school. Currently Dr Gibson is a chief investigator or principal on several research projects and she regularly reviews articles for : Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Human Reproduction, Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, The Australian Educational and Developmental Psychologist and Early Intervention Developmental Evaluation.
Through Access MQ, Dr Gibson is currently providing training and consultancy work to The Benevolent Society NSW (Bensoc) and Pearson.
